Halloween One-Shots 2026: Our Spooky Season Spotlight

If you’ve been with us for any length of time, you already know: we love horror. It’s not just something we cover here at Comics Warlocks, it’s something we live for, especially once October rolls around. We decorate the house, dig out our favorite horror novels and movies, hit up as many Halloween events as we can, and dive headfirst into stacks of horror comics all season long. So when Halloween one-shots start rolling out from publishers every year, we can’t help but get excited, whether they lean into full-blown scares or keep things light and silly, there’s something about a good Halloween one-shot that just captures the spirit of the season. This year is shaping up to be a particularly strong lineup, and we wanted to round up everything hitting shelves for Halloween 2026, in the same spirit as our Monthly Spotlight.

Here’s everything on our radar this year. Reader beware, you’re in for a scare (or at least a lot of fun).

Adventure Time Halloween Special #1

Adventure Time Halloween Special — Oni Press

Adventure Time gets its first-ever Halloween special this year, courtesy of writer Jeremy Melloul and artist Adam Seats. Finn and Jake make the classic mistake of not reading the fine print on a new quest, and end up trapped in a dungeon that starts turning them into its own monstrous residents. Fighting familiar faces while wearing very unfamiliar bodies, the pair has to find a way out before they lose themselves completely, in a spooky-sized 48-page adventure. It’s the kind of premise that sounds like a fun twist for longtime Ooo fans, and we’re curious to see how weird things get.

Amazing Spider-Man: Halloween Special — Marvel Comics

Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Special serves up both trick and treat: Hallows’ Eve is going for her biggest heist yet, and Spider-Man has to stop her before the danger spreads across the entire 616 universe, all while teasing a possible new costume for Spidey along the way. Hallows’ Eve is one of our favorite additions to Spider-Man’s rogues gallery, so this one’s high on our must-read list.

Archie’s Halloween Spectacular — Archie Comics

Riverdale goes full haunted house in Archie’s Halloween Spectacular, and this year’s spooky special comes with extra pages. Eyegore Estates is on the move, with Medusa Doom behind the wheel and her sights set on stealing every kid’s candy (and possibly the kids themselves). Archie and the gang will need some unlikely allies (Cosmo the Merry Martian and Fly-Girl from the Crusaders) to put a stop to Mad Doc Doom’s latest scheme. A perfectly goofy, all-ages way to kick off the spooky season.

Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Halloween Special — IDW Publishing

This is the one we’ve been most excited since it was announced. We adore Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, and this Halloween one-shot is stacked with talent: Patrick Horvath teams up with James Tynion IV, Tony Fleecs, Dave Wachter, Che Grayson, Jared Cullum, and more. Set after Samantha Strong’s departure from Woodbrook, the special digs into the murders that have been pinned on her since, some true, some just folklore, but all deliciously unsettling. Gather round the campfire and let the residents of Woodbrook spill their stories about everyone’s favorite cuddly serial killer. If you want more BTTWNS from us in the meantime, check out our review of Rite of Spring.

Giant-Sized Hatchet Halloween — American Mythology Productions

Victor Crowley, the unkillable slasher from Adam Green’s Hatchet films, is back for a massive 48-page Halloween special packed with three new stories from names like Adam F. Goldberg, G.O. Parsons, Derek Fridolfs, and James Kuhoric. Expect rage, violence, a look at Crowley’s tragic afterlife, and plenty of extras for collectors. We’re suckers for this franchise in any form, comics or movies, so Honey Island Swamp is calling.

Mirka Andolfo’s Sweet Paprika: Black, White, & Pink – Halloween Special — Image Comics

From the Eisner-nominated and Harvey-winning Sweet Paprika universe comes a Halloween special dressed up in black, white, and pink. As jack-o’-lanterns grin and costumes come off, Paprika and her crew chase tricks, treats, and trouble under the full moon in a collection of spicy, mischievous tales. The creative lineup is stacked, with Mirka Andolfo joined by Bartosz Sztybor, Leirix (in her first interior work), Rachele Aragno, and more. If you like your Halloween with a wink and a lot of heat, this one’s for you.

Scream! Halloween Special 2026 — Rebellion

Rebellion’s Scream! anthology returns for its 2026 Halloween Special with five twisted tales spanning vampire conspiracies, a possessed AI update, body-altering tech gone wrong, and a mutating archeological discovery. Coming off Scream!‘s 40th anniversary and the Eisner-nominated Scream! The Specials 1985–2024, this issue brings new chapters of The Dracula File and The Thirteenth Floor alongside brand-new one-shots. A solid pick if you want an anthology that keeps you unsettled well past Halloween night.

Terrorbytes Halloween Annual — Mad Cave Studios

Terrorbytes goes oversized for Halloween with a special issue blending futuristic horror and old-fashioned dread. Two new stories come courtesy of the winners of Mad Cave’s 2025 Talent Search, joined by a bonus tale from Mark London. All three stories point to the same idea: the scariest monsters of tomorrow aren’t hiding… they’re already here. A great pick for anyone who likes their horror with a tech edge.

The Zor Spooky Special — Keenspot

Michael Adams and Rob Potchak’s Ringo-nominated all-ages series ZOR (2025’s Best Kids Comic) is back with a Halloween Special that sends Zor sneaking out with his friend Dusty the Dust Farmer on a mission to find the perfect Halloween candy for Dusty’s wife. Expect friendship, mischief, and a cast that includes ants, an owl, and a dark night avenger. A sweet, low-key pick if you want something the whole family (including younger horror fans-in-training) can enjoy.

Of course, one-shots aren’t the only way to get into the Halloween spirit. If you’re looking for something a little more atmospheric to curl up with this spooky season, we’ve also got you covered with a few reviews perfect for the mood: Never by Night, Wiccan Witches Road, and Imaginary Fiends. Whatever you end up picking up this Halloween, we hope it’s full of tricks, treats, and just the right amount of scares.
