Illyana Rasputin keeps getting handed bigger and bigger stages, and we’re not about to complain. X-Orcists, a new ongoing series by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta, arrives November 18, 2026, marking the third consecutive book this creative team has built around her, and we’re genuinely curious to see where they take her next.

X-ORCISTS #1
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Ashley Allen
Artist: Germán Peralta
Cover Artist: Ben Harvey
Release date: November 18, 2026
So, What’s the Story?
A demon slips out of Limbo and starts tearing through humans and mutants alike, and this one is unlike anything Magik and her allies have dealt with before. She teams up with fellow X-Man Juggernaut and Madelyne Pryor, the current Queen of Limbo, to try to shut it down, but stopping it is going to take more than the three of them. A wider lineup of mystical heroes gets pulled in to help, all while a major X-Men villain lurking behind the chaos threatens to unravel mutant magic entirely if he gets his way.
Who’s Making X-Orcists?
Ashley Allen writes, Germán Peralta draws, and Ben Harvey provides the main cover, published by Marvel Comics as part of the ongoing Shadows of Tomorrow era, the banner covering X-Men storytelling since January 2026, in the aftermath of Age of Revelation, with mutants now trying to steer away from the darkest future that event showed them.
Allen and Peralta previously teamed up on Magik (2025), the solo series that first put Illyana at the center of her own book, and on Magik & Colossus (2026), the five-issue miniseries reuniting her with her brother Piotr against Russian folklore monsters. X-Orcists makes this their third straight collaboration built around her, and that kind of consistency on one character is rare even at Marvel. Allen is clearly in high demand across the X-line’s mystical and horror-adjacent corners right now too, she’s also currently writing Moonstar and Tomb of Apocalypse. Peralta’s résumé outside this corner of the X-books is deep too, he’s drawn Black Panther, Maestro, Thanos, Cable, and Moon Knight, and he’s currently on Infernal Hulk, so he brings a lot of range to how he handles a mystical, demon-focused story like this one.
Why We’re Watching This One
We already said everything we needed to say about Magik (2025) in our review, it gave Illyana room to breathe as a character, and Allen made the most of that space to tell something personal, weird, heartfelt, and hellishly fun. It stung that it ended at ten issues, but between Magik & Colossus and now X-Orcists, it’s clear Allen and Peralta aren’t done with her yet, and we’re genuinely glad about that. Pulling in Juggernaut and especially Madelyne Pryor as backup is a smart move too. Pryor has one of the messiest histories in the X-Men universe, a clone of Jean Grey who’s swung between villain and ally more than once, and her current status as Queen of Limbo makes her a natural fit for a story built around Illyana’s own complicated relationship with that realm, rather than just a guest star dropped in for name value.
I’ll also just say, personally, the Peach Momoko and Jenny Frison variant covers on this one are gorgeous. We buy their covers on basically anything they touch, and this is going to be no exception.
Who Should Add This to Their Pull List?
Anyone who’s followed Illyana through Magik and Magik & Colossus should consider this required reading, and fans of mystical X-Men stories in general should find plenty to like here too. If you’re into strong, character-driven X-teams, we’d also point you toward Exceptional X-Men and NYX, both of which scratch a similar itch from different angles.
