Vertigo is officially coming back in 2026 with new series and we could not be happier. This imprint shaped so many of the books we loved and seeing it return already feels huge. Among all the announcements, Bleeding Hearts instantly grabbed our attention and quickly became one of the titles we are the most excited about.

Bleeding Hearts is a new ongoing series written by Deniz Camp with art by Stipan Morian. The hook is simple but brilliant. Ten years after humanity fell, zombies have fully taken over. They built their own society, their own language, their own worldview. In the middle of all that, one zombie named Poke suddenly feels his heart beating again and everything around him shifts. Humans stop looking like prey and start looking like something else entirely. It seems to be an emotional and unsettling comic book, which is exactly the kind of twist we love in horror.

We are obviously big fans of zombie stories and The Walking Dead sits at the very top of our list. Bleeding Hearts sounds different from the usual survival horror formula and we are always curious to see how creators reinvent the genre or add a new layer to it. Deniz Camp has been absolutely on fire lately with The Ultimates and Absolute Martian Manhunter, so the idea of him tackling a zombie world where death is normal and life is the real disruption just feels perfect. Camp and Morian previously worked together on 20th Century Men. We have not read it yet, but if Bleeding Hearts hits the way we think it will, it will move straight to our reading list.

Everything about this series makes us impatient. The concept feels fresh, the creative team is strong, and the return of Vertigo already puts 2026 on a whole new level for horror comics. We just want to read it now and waiting feels impossible, but at least we know something special is coming! February 11, 2026: save the date!
