This one is written by Zack Kaplan with art by Stefano Raffaele. Zack Kaplan is a writer we really enjoy, we loved Break Out, Beyond Real and more recently Masterminds. We even saw him recently at a panel at the Calgary Expo, and hearing him talk about storytelling made us even more interested in his work. On art, Stefano Raffaele is known for projects like Alien vs. Captain America, which already gives a strong sense of the kind of energy he can bring (MONSTERRRRS).

Only The Savage Are Left takes place in a world where a virus has turned people into monsters, but with a brutal twist. The only way to survive the infection is to kill someone else who is infected. That alone makes the entire world feel desperate and violent. The story follows a young man who refuses to embrace that brutality as he leaves the safety of his community to search for the person he loves, stepping into a world filled with both monsters and people who have become just as dangerous.

What really makes us curious about this new book is how extreme this setup feels. It is not just a monster apocalypse, it is a moral nightmare where survival comes at a cost that forces people to lose themselves. Deep tension, mixed with a personal love story at the center, sounds like it could hit hard emotionally while still delivering intense action.

The first issue is set to release on June 3, 2026, and everything about it suggests a series that will not hold back. This sounds harsh, violent, and maybe even a bit heartbreaking, which is exactly why we are so excited to read it.
