‘Wiccan: Witches’ Road’ Promises Horror, Magic, and Adventure

Written by:

Marvel recently announced something we’ve been hoping to see for a long time. Wiccan: Witches’ Road, Wiccan’s first solo series, is coming this December. And we’re really, really, really excited.

Wiccan: Witches’ Road #1
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Wyatt Kennedy
Interior Artist: Andy Pereira
Cover Artist: Lucas Werneck
Release date: December 3, 2025

Wiccan: Witches’ Road is a five-issue limited series launching December 3. It is written by Wyatt Kennedy, the writer of Nights who also participated in Marvel’s Pride Special issues X-Men: The Wedding Special and Marvel United: A Pride Special, with art by Andy Pereira who’s debuting with this comic book.

This marks the very first time Billy Kaplan headlines his own solo comic, which is huge news for fans like us who have loved him since the Young Avengers (and especially as half of our favorite Marvel couple alongside Hulkling). Now, can we talk about the premise? With Hulkling’s life in danger, Billy must set foot on the mysterious Witches’ Road, a path filled with supernatural threats, dark discoveries, and new magical challenges. Along the way, he faces a new villain and encounters strange forces that test the limits of his power and courage…

And if that was not exciting enough, the series is being described as a horror adventure, which could not be more perfect. Horror mixed with Marvel magic? We are absolutely in (I mean, you know our taste by now). Writer Wyatt Kennedy has already emphasized the horror elements, which makes us even more eager to see Billy step into darker territory than ever before.

What makes this even more cool is the presence of so many queer creators shaping Wiccan’s solo debut. The first issue features a main cover by Lucas Werneck along with variants by Russell Dauterman and Luciano Vecchio, all three AMAZING artists. Each one captures a different side of Billy’s world, and together their work makes the launch of this series feel truly special. These are the two variant covers that were revealed, and more are on the way!

We also can’t ignore how perfectly this follows our love for Agatha All Along, which immediately became one of our top three Marvel series. That show reminded us how much untapped potential there is in Marvel’s magical and supernatural side, and now Wiccan gets to carry that torch into the comics. If this limited series does well, we can only hope Marvel considers an ongoing title for Billy in the future.

Wiccan: Witches’ Road #1 arrives December 3. Consider it an early holiday gift for anyone who loves horror, magic, and one of Marvel’s most beloved queer heroes… and you can bet we’ll be grabbing every cover to celebrate Billy’s big solo debut.
