Felicia Hardy is clawing her way back into the spotlight this August and we’re already sold.

Marvel just announced Black Cat, a brand-new ongoing series written by the amazing G. Willow Wilson and illustrated by Gleb Melnikov, and yes, our wallets are already trembling.

We’ve loved Black Cat for years. She’s a bold, stylish, complicated character who can steal a diamond and your heart in the same panel. It’s been way too long since she had a solo run (2021, to be exact), so the fact that she’s returning in a full ongoing is seriously exciting. And with G. Willow Wilson writing her? That’s an instant yes from us. Wilson nailed character-driven storytelling in her runs of Ms. Marvel, that we LOVED. She also wrote A-Force, Poison Ivy and many other series, and we can’t wait to see her take on Felicia Hardy.

The new series spins out of recent Amazing Spider-Man events and follows Felicia as she flirts with something totally unexpected: being a superhero. Of course, it’s Black Cat we’re talking about so there’s no way this doesn’t come with a twist (or three). Is she doing it for real? Is it all just part of a bigger, shinier heist? Either way, we’re in.

On top of the main cover by Adam Hughes, a few gorgeous variant covers have already been announced. Our favorite might be Peach Momoko’s variant (shocked, right?). And we know there will be a J. Scott Campbell and a Derrick Chew variant on the way (not revealed yet), so let’s be real. We’re probably going to end up with more than one copy of Black Cat #1.

We’re always up for a new take on Felicia Hardy and this one sounds like a wild ride. Bring on the heists, heroics, and high fashion.
