Sister Josephine is a devoted nun, and Edimmu is a festering demon. After an exorcism goes disastrously wrong, both are thrown out, she from the church and he from hell. Instead of going their separate ways, they have to team up to uncover a sinister plot that threatens their lives and the world.
The pitch has been described as supernatural horror with a buddy-cop energy, set in Boston. It also draws on Biblical texts and early translations to reshape familiar lore, with dark humor, violence, and theological twists along the way. A nun and a demon teaming up is such a twisted, fun hook that we were sold immediately.

Robinson is a New York Times bestselling novelist of nearly 100 books, including Infinite, The Others, and the Good Boys trilogy, and a TV series based on his novel Project Nemesis is in development. In comics, he runs the Breakneck Comics imprint at Vault, where Nectar and Excommunicated are his first two releases. Palma, Rodriguez, and Campbell have all worked with him on other comics before, so this is a team that already knows how to work together.
Palma is an illustrator with a background in advertising and art direction, and his current work includes X-Men United at Marvel. Flaviano Armentaro, who provides the cover, is also the artist behind BOOM! Studios’ Grim.
