We just read the first four issues of Otherkin, and let me tell you why this is a series you should absolutely have on your radar and consider backing on Kickstarter.

Otherkin
Writer: Marco Vito Oddo
Artist: Victor Costa
Release date: October 2025-now
The first issue pulls you in right away with a simple but very effective question. Who are these people, and why are they all wearing sunglasses? It took me a second to click, and when it did, it was such a great moment. They’re all the same person. Alex. And that’s when things get interesting.
We learn that Alex is a shapeshifting spell caster who has just arrived in London with a mission: find the Wizard (who is the Wizard? We have no idea but we just go with it). As the story unfolds, it feels like puzzle pieces slowly falling into place in a really satisfying way.
Soon, Alex meets Lorelei, a sassy librarian who immediately becomes one of the highlights of the book. Alex and Lorelei are just so easy to like. Their dynamic feels natural, fun, and grounded, which makes it even easier to get invested in everything that’s happening around them.
And once the bigger picture starts to reveal itself, the story really picks up.

What begins as something mysterious and slightly disorienting quickly turns into a fast-moving, almost chaotic ride. The pacing ramps up, the stakes become clearer, and suddenly you’re fully locked in, trying to understand how all of these threads connect. By issue two, I was completely hooked.
Visually, the book supports that tone really well. The art is sharp and controlled, with a more somber color palette that adds to the mystery and tension. It never distracts from the story, it enhances it. And honestly, this is exactly the kind of project that deserves support.
Creators like Marco Vito Oddo and Victor Costa are bringing something fresh, creative, and genuinely engaging to the table. Indie comics like this are where some of the most interesting ideas are happening right now, and supporting them directly through Kickstarter is how those stories get to continue. If you enjoy mystery, magic, and stories that slowly pull you deeper the more you read, Otherkin is absolutely worth your attention.
And also… I’m not saying I’m about to start wearing sunglasses everywhere to look mysterious. But I’m not not saying it either. 😎
