The series is written by Zoe Tunnell, with art by V. Gagnon and Tesslyn Bergin-Dicoi. We know Zoe Tunnell from her story “The Bolter” in Marvel United: A Pride Special, and she is also contributing to Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron, which already makes us curious to read more of her work. V. Gagnon is someone we have noticed thanks to a gorgeous variant cover for Christopher Chaos #10, while Tesslyn Bergin-Dicoi seems to be a new name in the comic book world.

Seven Wives is a whodunit set around the murder of a man inside a remote religious compound in Arizona. The victim leaves behind seven wives and a long list of witnesses, but getting to the truth is far from simple. Two detectives are sent to investigate and quickly realize that the women are not willing to speak openly, hiding behind carefully rehearsed words and a shared belief system that keeps everything tightly controlled. As the investigation unfolds, cracks begin to appear and a much darker reality starts to surface…

Crime comics are actually quite rare compared to other genres, and when they land, they can be incredibly addictive. This kind of detective story feels perfect for binge reading, which almost makes the monthly wait a bit painful if the mystery really hooks us. The setup here has everything we like, a strong central mystery, layered characters, and the promise of secrets slowly coming to light. Seven Wives is also part of the new IDW Crime imprint, which is focusing on darker, grounded crime stories, and this one feels like a very strong way to kick things off.

Seven Wives #1 is set to release on May 20, 2026, and it already feels like one of those series we will want to read in one sitting. Until then, we are ready to follow every issue closely and try to piece together the truth along the way.
