Some months make us scroll through previews slowly, adding titles one by one to our pull list. April felt exactly like that. The deeper we looked, the more strange, dark, and exciting ideas kept appearing! Here are our top 12 picks for new comic series debuting in April.

Abattoir Six – Iron Age Comics
The story: In a brutal post-apocalyptic future, a group of prisoners attempt to escape a massive prison complex while being hunted by monstrous vampires.
Why we’re intrigued: Between the creepy first impression, the dark world building, and the promise of chaos inside Abattoir 6, we are absolutely here for whatever this series is about to unleash!

The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity – Marvel Comics
The story: Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Araña, Spider-Boy, and Spider-Girl are thrown together for training under Norman Osborn and Spider-Woman to prepare for a looming threat that may be tied to the Green Goblin himself.
Why we’re intrigued: A spider team up the way we like them, and we are excited to read Spider-Boy again too.

Captain Marvel: Dark Past – Marvel Comics
The story: When an attack in New York reveals a hidden chapter of Carol Danvers’ family history, Captain Marvel begins investigating secrets tied to her past as Ms. Marvel.
Why we’re intrigued: What really excites us is the angle of revisiting Carol’s earlier identity. Exploring her time as Ms. Marvel always adds emotional weight and depth, especially when tied to memory, identity, and legacy. Read more about it here!

Daredevil – Marvel Comics
The story: A mysterious villain called Omen targets Matt Murdock, forcing Daredevil to confront new threats while adjusting to a life and status quo unlike anything he has faced before.
Why we’re intrigued: Stephanie Phillips writing Daredevil. This is going to be so good!

Estuary: A Ghost Story – Oni Press
The story: At a centuries-old Spanish mission on the California coast, a marine archaeologist begins excavating a legendary shipwreck and uncovers dark secrets tied to the site’s haunted past.
Why we’re intrigued: A haunted mission, buried secrets, and ocean-side horror already sounds like the kind of creepy atmosphere we love in supernatural comics.

Everyone Loves a Jewel Thief – Ignition Press
The story: A struggling novelist plans a flashy jewel heist to revive his career and turn himself into a media sensation, recruiting his old friends to help pull off the stunt.
Why we’re intrigued: This sounds fun and we trust Tim Seeley in delivering a great book.

The Hab – Bad Idea Comics
The story: As the world collapses, a billionaire retreats with his family and allies into a sealed underground habitat built above an ancient glacial cave, only to discover something dangerous was already lurking beneath the ice.
Why we’re intrigued: We’re always on the lookout for original horror that feels a little different, and The Hab seems to fit that perfectly. It’s bold, ambitious, and looks like it’ll crawl right under your skin. Read more about it here!

In Your Skin – Image Comics
The story: A Bollywood superfan becomes dangerously obsessed with a film star and decides to take over the life she believes her idol is abandoning.
Why we’re intrigued: Bollywood mixed with body horror is such a strange and bold concept that we cannot help but be curious about where this story will go.

Neighborhood Watch – BOOM! Studios
The story: After a woman is found shot in a tunnel connecting two rival communities, unlikely allies from each side must work together to uncover who is responsible and why.
Why we’re intrigued: A whodunit in comics can be incredibly fun when done well, and this setup feels perfect for tension, twists, and layered character drama. Read more about it here!

Pretty Hate Machine – Mad Cave Studios
The story: After his father dies under suspicious circumstances, a grieving teenager is guided by a terrifying knife-handed creature who claims the death was murder.
Why we’re intrigued: Between the creative team, the mystery, and that knife handed nightmare, this is one horror series we are seriously looking forward to. Read more about it here!

Red Roots – Image Comics
The story: The lives of a professional killer and a high school teacher become linked by a mysterious and dangerous force.
Why we’re intrigued: There is something intriguing about not knowing what to expect, especially when the setup hints at violence, fate, and something larger connecting two very different lives. Read more about it here!

Zatanna – DC Comics
The story: As the first Prime Magus in centuries, Zatanna must guide and protect the magical world while confronting forgotten threats from its past.
Why we’re intrigued: Always here for a new Zatanna series, we just love the character!
