Keenspot has been delivering original and fun comics lately and Maid Cafe instantly stood out as the one slasher title we needed in our lives. As huge slasher fans, we were already hooked, but the Maid Cafe angle pushed us straight into must read territory. We lived in Japan for many years and had our fair share of awkward but fun Maid Cafe experiences, so seeing this setting twisted into a full horror series is exactly the kind of surprise that gets us excited.
Maid Cafe is described as a brutal and stylish slasher story centered on Mao, a maid whose love for her chainsaw grows as her patience with entitled customers disappears. Things escalate fast, and soon the maids from different cafes decide that revenge looks a lot better than customer service. The whole thing spills out into a shopping mall filled with Pachinko machines, snack shops, and plenty of places for chaos to explode.
The main cover by Mark Spears is already one of the reasons we need this book on our shelf. It is fun, striking, and captures the exact mood we hoped this series would have. Keenspot has been on a roll with bold and quirky ideas and Maid Cafe feels like another hit waiting to happen.
With slasher energy, a setting we know well, and a concept that mixes cute style with total carnage, we are more than ready for this one. If it lands the way we expect, it will be a highlight of our 2026 horror reading.
