‘A Quiet Place: Storm Warning’ Brings the Silence to Comics

The silence is back. IDW Dark recently announced A Quiet Place: Storm Warning, a chilling new chapter in one of the most nerve-racking horror universes out there, and we’re super excited for this one.

A Quiet Place: Storm Warning #1

Release date: March 2026

We’ve always loved the A Quiet Place films for their smart mix of emotion and terror. The movies built a world where making a sound means death, forcing humanity to survive in silence. It’s such a simple but powerful idea, and we believe it’s one that can totally work in comics as well.

Written by Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Wonder Woman) with art by Ryan Kelly (Lucifer, Stranger Things), A Quiet Place: Storm Warningtakes place in a small Midwestern island town fighting to stay alive as the sound-hunting creatures draw near. The creative team is leaning into the visual tension that defined the films, promising a story that’s suspenseful, emotional, and deeply atmospheric.

We’re really curious to see how silence translates on the page. Horror comics can build dread in such unique ways, and this concept feels like the perfect test; every turn of the page could make you want to hold your breath. The A Quiet Place universe has always been about restraint, about the fear of breaking the quiet, the tension that builds from what’s not said or shown. Translating that into panels opens a lot of creative doors. How do you make readers feel sound, or the threat of it, without hearing a thing? It’s the kind of challenge that could make this story even more immersive if done right.

IDW Dark’s new horror imprint is clearly going all in for 2026, bringing big horror franchises into comics with A Quiet Place: Storm Warning and Smile: For the Camera (which we also covered here on the blog). As huge horror fans, we couldn’t be more excited to see where this terrifying new lineup goes next.
