‘Knight City’ Takes Superhero Pressure to a New Level

That’s one new comic book announcement that got us extremely curious! Let’s talk about Knight City.

Knight City #1
Writer, Colorist: Matt Kindt
Artist: David Lapham
Letterer: Josh Reed
Release date: February 4, 2026

Dark Horse Comics has announced Knight City, a new three issue series arriving in February 2026 from writer Matt Kindt and artist David Lapham. We were immediately hooked by the premise, which tackles the superhero genre in a way we do not see often.

The series follows a legendary hero who lives two completely different lives. When awake, he soars as a symbol of hope, but the moment he falls asleep he becomes an ordinary man in a world with no powers and no heroics. The tension between these realities builds until his heroic identity begins to fracture under the constant pressure. It is a fascinating direction for a cape story because instead of focusing on villains or epic battles, it centers on the mental toll of never being allowed to rest and how saving the world becomes a burden rather than a triumph. That alone feels like a fresh idea in modern superhero storytelling.

We are also excited because Matt Kindt is a writer we enjoy across several books like Folklords or Hairball (and of course BRZRKR). He always brings new angles and depth to genre stories. Pairing him with David Lapham, who also worked on dozens of series like Stray Bullets and Ferals, feels like exactly the kind of creative matchup that can make this story even sharper, more intense, and more character driven.

Knight City launches in February 2026, and we are absolutely looking forward to seeing where this psychological and inventive take on heroism goes.
