‘Dead Head’ Promises a Full-On Slasherfest

Iron Age Comics recently announced Dead Head and the way they’re describing it (“a slasherfest”) immediately sold us. You already know how much we love slashers (Scream will forever be my number one), so a new comic that embraces that vibe with all the gore and chaos of the genre? Yes please.

Dead Head #1
Publisher: Iron Age Comics
Writer: A. C. Medina
Interior & Cover Artist: Gabriel Fonseca
Colorist: Barlo Moreira
Release date: November 26, 2025

The series is pitched as John Wick meets Jason Voorhees, which honestly sounds like wild fun. The story follows Dead Head on a revenge-fueled rampage through dozens of killers, all building up to a showdown with Mauler Mason, a legendary slasher who has left thousands of bodies in his wake. That setup alone feels like it was made for horror fans, especially those of us who think there can never be too many slashers in comics.

The creative team is totally new to us, which makes this even more intriguing. It’s written by A.C. Medina with art by Gabriel Fonseca and colors by Barlo Moreira. We’re especially loving the look of the art so far from what we’ve seen from the colorist’s website. We can’t wait to see how this creative mix brings the carnage to life on the page. We also don’t know what to expect since we’re not familiar with the publisher, but that’s part of the fun here. New voices, a fresh team, and a premise that sounds like pure slasher chaos? We’re all in.

Also worth mentioning: the first issue is getting a foil-stamped wraparound cover, which feels very fitting for a book that wants to go big, bloody, and bold. I mean, I already love the three variant covers that were revealed – look at them!

Dead Head #1 is set to release on November 26, and you can bet we’ll be grabbing it the moment it hits. Horror comics need more slashers, and this one feels like it’s aiming straight for our bloody little horror hearts.
