16 Queer Comics Recommendations for Pride Month

June is here, and we couldn’t let Pride Month go by without sharing some of the incredible queer comics we’ve picked up over the years. These are all titles from our personal collection, books we’ve read, loved, and wanted to spotlight. We even made a quick video on TikTok and Instagram (part 1 & part 2) if you’re curious to see the covers (and us).

We thought it was important to put together an article too, not just to show off the books on our shelves, but to celebrate the powerful, personal, and proudly queer stories being told in comics today. Here we go!

Astonishing Iceman – Marvel Comics (2023)
The story: Bobby Drake is back in action, using his omega-level powers to take on mutant-hating threats while keeping his icy fortress hidden from Orchis.
Why you should read it: Iceman’s queerness is front and center in this solo run, and his romance with Romeo adds real heart (and fun). It’s a fast-paced, proudly queer superhero story with a ton of style, and Steve Orlando absolutely gets what makes Bobby shine.

The Deviant – Image Comics (2023-2025)
The story: In 1972 Milwaukee, a man in a Santa suit murdered young men and was caught… or so everyone thought. Fifty years later, a queer writer interviews the imprisoned “Deviant Killer,” but when new killings begin, the past claws its way into the present.
Why you should read it: James Tynion IV is amazing at writing characters, and especially queer ones, and we love how dark and gripping this story is. Killer Santa, Christmas horror, and queer themes? This was a hit. We even did a full review article about it!

House of Slaughter – BOOM! Studios (2021-2025)
The story: We’re focusing on the first arc (#1-5) here. Before becoming Erica Slaughter’s handler, Aaron was just a teen trying to survive the brutal training of the Order of St. George. But things get even harder when he falls for a boy who might be his biggest rival.
Why you should read it: A queer love story between two boys, set in the violent monster-hunting world of Something is Killing the Children. It’s bloody, tragic, and totally beautiful.

Hulkling & Wiccan – Marvel Comics (2022)
The story: A magical artifact throws Billy and Teddy into alternate realities, testing their love with lives they could’ve lived… but will they still choose each other?
Why you should read it: Our favorite Marvel couple! This one-shot is powerful, romantic, and totally delivers. And that Peach Momoko cover? Simply stunning.

Marvel’s Voices: Pride – Marvel Comics (2021-2023)
The story: An annual anthology celebrating Marvel’s queer heroes and creators, featuring diverse, powerful stories.
Why you should read it: Great short stories that highlight queer characters and voices in the Marvel Universe, always perfect for Pride Month and beyond. This year, in 2025, this anthology was out on June 11 and was called Marvel United: A Pride Special.

The Neighbors – BOOM! Studios (2023)
The story: When Janet and Oliver Gowdie move to a quiet mountain town, strange and terrifying events start to unravel their family, blurring the line between who’s human and who’s not.
Why you should read it: A creepy, folklore-rich horror story with queer representation at its core as the father is a trans man. His character adds depth to this unsettling tale. Perfect if you like horror with a queer twist, like we do!

The Nice House on the Lake – DC Comics (2021-2022)
The story: Everyone invited knows Walter, some from childhood and some more recently. After a hard year, they accept his offer to stay at a beautiful, private house by a lake. As they try to reconnect, the anxieties of the world take on a terrifying new form and trust becomes a question.
Why you should read it: James Tynion IV does once again an amazing job developing the characters. The story is full of suspense and emotion, with several queer characters that are in for a treat.

The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos – Dark Horse Comics (2022-2025)
The story: Teenage mad scientist Christopher Chaos has always felt different. When the cute boy at school turns out to be a deadly creature, Christopher is pulled into a world of monsters, heroes, and hunters trying to destroy them.
Why you should read it: We love the characters and how the story explores coming of age and discovering who you are while navigating a dangerous world alongside a close group of friends. Check out our full series review!

Once Upon a Time at the End of the World – BOOM! Studios (2022-2024)
The story: In this post-apocalyptic love story, Mezzy and Maceo meet in a ruined world and form a bond that’s tested by both environmental horrors and their own differences.
Why you should read it: We love how deep the story goes, and how the characters are free to love and connect without limits or labels.

Rain – Image Comics (2022)
The story: Honeysuckle and her girlfriend Yolanda are ready to start a new life together… until a sudden storm rains down deadly crystal shards, turning their world into a nightmare. As the apocalyptic disaster spreads, Honeysuckle must face unimaginable loss and fight to hold on to love.
Why you should read it: A beautiful queer love story set in a horrifying world. Heartbreaking, powerful, and incredibly well written.

Sereno – Comics Experience Publishing (2024)
The story: Sereno is the Mystic Master of Light and protector of New Teia, a city where magic and science blur. As dark forces rise, Sereno must fight to save the city and maybe fall for the charming thief Rufián along the way.
Why you should read it: We love a queer superhero, the art is stunning as always from Luciano Vecchio, and it’s exciting to see him writing his own story too.

Sins of the Black Flamingo – Image Comics (2022)
The story: Sebastian Harlow is the Black Flamingo, a bold and stylish thief who steals mystical artifacts from Miami’s occult elite. But his latest heist leads to more than just treasure: it sets him on a path toward something bigger, and maybe even meaningful.
Why you should read it: Probably the gayest comic we own! The story is super fun, the main character is unapologetically queer, and the art by Travis Moore is absolutely breathtaking.

Spectrum – Two Gargoyles Comics (2016-)
The story: Just as Richie Sorensen begins to figure out he’s gay, he’s also thrown into the world of superheroes, where powers, secrecy, and identity collide. As he joins a team of queer heroes, Richie must learn how to be true to himself while saving the world.
Why you should read it: A team of queer superheroes and a heartfelt coming-of-age story. We just love this indie comic! You can read more about it on our recent review!

Superman: Son of Kal-El – DC Comics (2021-2022)
The story: With his father away handling threats off-world, Jon Kent steps up to protect Earth as the new Superman. He faces global crises, questions of justice, and his own identity, both as a hero and as a young man finding his place in the world.
Why you should read it: This was the first Superman comic I read and I loved the action and how Jon’s story shows that even Superman can still be figuring things out. It’s powerful to see a bisexual Superman lead the way.

Wynd – BOOM! Studios (2020-2021)
The story: In a world where magic is outlawed, Wynd must hide his true nature… or risk everything. But when his secret is exposed, he’s thrown into a wild adventure alongside his best friend, a prince, and the boy he’s crushing on.
Why you should read it: Another James Tynion IV hit. Full of heart, magic, and very cute (and very queer) characters who go through real challenges.

X-Men: The Wedding Special – Marvel Comics (2024)
The story: Mystique and Destiny finally get the spotlight they deserve in this historic celebration of their love. After over a century together, their long-awaited wedding is here. But of course, it wouldn’t be complete without drama, chaos, and unexpected guests.
Why you should read it: Mystique and Destiny are such a powerful and iconic couple, and we just love seeing them take center stage (as they should!!).
